Quantity Breaks

Reward customers who buy more with automatic volume discounts — no coupon codes needed.

How it works

Quantity breaks let you define discount tiers based on how many units of a product are added to the cart. When a customer reaches a threshold, the discount is applied automatically at checkout via Shopify's Discount Functions API.

Setting up quantity breaks

  1. Open a bundle or create a new one.
  2. Select the Quantity Breaks tab.
  3. Add tiers, for example:
    • Buy 2 → 10% off
    • Buy 5 → 20% off
    • Buy 10 → 30% off
  4. Save and publish. The widget on the product page updates automatically to show the tier table.

Widget display

The storefront widget shows a clean tier table below the add-to-cart button. As customers adjust quantity, the active tier is highlighted and the discounted price is shown in real time.

Combining with bundles

Quantity breaks can be applied to individual products within a bundle or to the bundle as a whole. Discounts stack according to Shopify's discount combination rules (configured in your Shopify Discounts settings).

Choosing good tier thresholds

Base your thresholds on your store's actual average order size — check the analytics dashboard for your typical cart quantity before publishing a tier structure. A common pattern is a small discount at a quantity just above your current average (to nudge existing behaviour) and a larger discount at 2-3x that amount (to reward bulk buyers). Test with two or three tiers before adding more; too many tiers can make the widget harder to scan at a glance.
